Neighborhood Birth Center aims to be Boston’s first independent and freestanding birthing center – a warm, inviting space, led by midwives, providing holistic pregnancy care, labor and birth support and postpartum care. We believe that people living in and around Boston should have access to a full range of pregnancy care and birthing options and that the integration of a birth center that is designed with an explicit focus on equity and liberation will improve birth experiences and outcomes. The vision, analysis, planning, and process for Neighborhood Birth Center is deeply guided by the wisdom of a robust advisory board made up of parents, community leaders, midwives and other birth workers, and researchers who will meet quarterly at the Old Oak Dojo in 2019.
